Each of the courses shown on this site will fall into one of five different routes. This section explains the different routes and levels of programmes open to you, along with the general entry requirements. For a more detailed requirement list please download the prospectus found in the download area.
Route A (Level 3) - Two Year Course
If you have six or more GCSEs at grade C or above, but with mainly A or B grades - this is for you!
Choose three or four A Level subjects and/or a BTEC National Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma. Students may decide to take one of the subjects to AS Level.
A minimum of six GCSEs (grades A*-C) is required, including maths and English. Students will normally require a minimum of a GCSE (grade B) in any subject they wish to continue at A Level.
Further individual entry requirements or recommendations also exist for some subjects.
Route B (Level 3) - Two Year Course
If you have at least four GCSEs at grade C or above, but mainly C grades or a merit in BTEC First Diploma - this is for you!
Choose a BTEC National Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma. Some A Level options may be open to you, if individual subject entry requirements are met.
A minimum of four GCSEs (grades A*-C) is required, normally including maths and English, or Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2.
Route C (Level 2) - One Year Course
If you have a number of GCSEs, mainly C to F grades - this is for you!
Choose a BTEC First Diploma programme or Higher Diploma, or equivalent, including maths and English or Key Skills. A minimum of four GCSEs, grade E or above, is required.
Route D (Level 1) - One Year Course
If you have completed school and have some GCSE passes - this is for you!
Choose a BTEC Introductory programme, or Foundation Diploma, or City & Guilds, or equivalent, with Key Skills progression to other further education courses.
Satisfactory completion of secondary education with some GCSE success is preferred.
Route E (Levels 2 and 3) - Apprenticeships
If you are looking to combine work with gaining a recognised qualification, this may be for you!
Satisfactory completion of secondary education. Students will have to undertake an interview, trade assessment and have an appropriate employer for the scheme.
